Certificate in Introduction to Adult Social Care, Level 3 The EDI Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care is aimed at learners interested in, or new to, working in adult social care in England. It aims to develop knowledge around the following areas relating to working in adult social care: 1) Communication 2) Equality, diversity and inclusion

It does not confirm competence but relates to the knowledge elements covered in the mandatory units of the Health and Social Care Diploma at Level 3. Learners progressing to the HSC Diploma at L3 will therefore be able to have their achievement of the knowledge recognised in these units via RPL
Learning Outcomes To achieve the full EDI Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care (England), learners must achieve 21 credits.

Career Benefits This qualification is aimed at learners interested in, or new to, working in adult social care in England. It aims to develop your knowledge around the main areas relating to working in adult social care. The course can be seen as a stepping stone into the Health & Social Care industry, and it provides progression onto further studies for those who want to climb the career ladder. Depending on their qualification, students may start off as care assistants and develop care pathways to become doctors, nurses, social workers, physiotherapists, counsellors, psychotherapists, paramedics or a range of other related occupations.
Teaching Methods We primarily encourage you to learn through discovery and active practice, rather than being reliant on teachers and textbooks. Tasks are designed to respond to individual learning styles and needs, and we offer constructive feedback acknowledging that making mistakes is a crucial part of effective learning. Resources are available on moodle.
Assessment The course is summatively assessed through nine multiple choice exams.
Transferrable Skills You will develop a degree of self-reflection and begin to recognise your own strengths and weaknesses. Key skills such as problem-solving, working with others, and functional skills in literacy, numeracy and ICT are embedded in the course. All of these are skills that allow you to progress in education, training and employment and make a positive contribution to your community.
Progression On successful completion of the course, candidates can progress onto the Diploma in Health & Social Care.

Entry Requirements There are no formal entry requirements; this qualification is open to all learners. To study with Atkins Academy, you must be at least 18 years old. If you are 16-18, you may be able to study this course through our sister organisation, Atkins Acorns.
Course Mode, Duration & Fees The Certificate in Introduction to Adult Social Care consists of 194 Guided Learning Hours. It can be studied over a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 2 years.
