Postgraduate Diploma in Management
The Postgraduate Diploma in Management is action-oriented and designed to accelerate the managerial and leadership development process of all participants in various disciplines.
The primary objective of the Postgraduate Diploma in Management is to develop the analytical abilities necessary for effective decision making. The student receives a broad and thorough training in the kinds of problem solving that equip him/her for decision-making responsibilities in Business and Industrial Corporations.
The particular focus of the programme is to enable a manager to operate at a strategic level and to manage effectively within a complex and uncertain environment. The close links that have been established with industry, commerce and the public sector have contributed to the development and design of the programs and means that the student possesses the knowledge and skills of his/her subject matter. It is intended for both active managers and recent graduates interested in advanced studies.
Learning Outcomes
This is a programme aimed at practising managers as well as recent graduates with a demonstrated interest in advanced studies. To this end, the course provides opportunities to acquire and/or develop:

Thesis
A 10,000-word thesis must be submitted by September or, in case the thesis is found unacceptable in the first instance, December the latest. The thesis is a major part of the PGD. A student not submitting an up-to-standard thesis will not be awarded the PGD.
The thesis must be on a topic agreed with the student’s tutor and should have a research base. Students are expected to begin working on the thesis in June after the exams and submit it the latest by the first week of September of the same year. However, it is generally recommended that students begin thinking about their research project long before June. That is why in early January students are allocated a tutor, who assists them in these early stages of the thesis.
The Institute encourages students to undertake a study of a current concern to their own organisation or firm. The thesis will be marked by an examiner and moderated by an external examiner. The student may be required to support his/her work to an examining panel. The pass mark is 50% and student’s performance will be indicated on the Transcript. If the Thesis is not of an acceptable standard and the student has to re-submit, then he/she must pay aresubmission fee. Students are only allowed to re-submit once.
